DownloadStudio – Fast Download Manager
Modern web browsers come with an integrated download manager to help you get files off the web and onto your machine. Conceiva’s download manager DownloadStudio outdoes them by downloading data up to five times faster. Perhaps you don’t rely on the built-in download manager your browser has to offer; perhaps you have something other than DownloadStudio. Then you need to know that DownloadStudio is up to 50% faster than all the other download managers out there. As the developer put it, DownloadStudio is the fastest download manager on the planet – something you will see for yourself when you put the application to the test.
To do that, you must first get a 29.4Mb installation file, run it, and click through the InstallShield Wizard that shows up. The application can be easily installed on top of 32 and 64-bit Windows editions, from Windows 7 down to Windows 2000. For DownloadStudio to run smoothly, you will need at least 512MB of Ram, 50MB of free disk space, a monitor capable of 1024x768, 24-bit resolution, and an internet connection, obviously.
When you launch DownloadStudio for the first time you will be asked if you want to integrate the download manager into your browser. Support for the most popular browsers out there is provided. Of course, this means that Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Chrome are supported. Flock is also supported, but support for this browser is no longer provided. By integrating DownloadStudio with your browser, the download manager will take over the browser’s built-in download manager.
By default, the Quick Start view is presented to you when you start using the application. You can switch to another view from the Tools Menu in the upper left hand corner or by clicking the buttons in the lower left hand corner. The thing is that the Quick Start view provides a handy means of starting a download. There are buttons for Download files, Download web pages, Download music, videos and photos, and Download other content. Based on the button you click, you will be presented with various download options.
Say you want to download a file from the web. All you have to do is select the Download files button and pick the 'Download a file' option. A Download Wizard will show up and take you through the process of creating a download job. You will have to provide the URL of the file you want to download, specify where you want it to be saved, and pick if you want to save the download job or start the download immediately. If you choose to download it immediately, you’ll be presented with the Download Files pane where the download status is displayed. If you choose to save the download job, you can manually start the download when it’s convenient for you, or you can schedule the download to take place automatically at a specific time.
Getting back to the Getting Started view, you will find several other buttons, buttons for downloading multiple files, for downloading a webpage, for downloading a website, for downloading images, for downloading audio files, for downloading photos from Flickr, for subscribing and downloading a podcast, and more. No matter which one you choose, a wizard will guide you and help you get things done rapidly.
DownloadStudio is only free to try. You have a total of 15 days at your disposal to use the application for free and assess the functionality it has to offer.
Numerous awards from the media, a good looking interface, wizards to help you download just about anything you can think off, and high download speed, I can’t find a reason why you wouldn’t want this download manager on your PC.
Pros
DownloadStudio can integrate with the most popular browsers out there. It can download all sorts of files from the web and it downloads them faster than the browser’s built-in download manager and faster than other 3rd party download managers. Wizards will guide you through the process of setting up a download job. You can schedule download jobs to take place automatically. Support for multiple languages is provided. There are many settings to play with.
Cons
Free to use for a trial period of 15 days.
